Assessment 2A

The technique I chose is ‘a fun palace full of activities defined by pieces of architecture’ by Cedric Price. Cedric Price was born in 1934 and Cedric Price is one of the most influential figures in contemporary architecture. Cedric Price has a philosophy that buildings should meet the needs of those who use them, and buildings should depict the purpose of being manufactured. His most important project is an interesting palace. This is a free space. Everyone can come and do whatever they want and have fun. The entire architecture is like a big machine. Each structure such as walls, platforms, floors, stairs and ceilings can be changed to suit different functions. Users can change and redesign the architecture. The interesting palace in his mind is not just a building but a community. His advice is more extensive, treating architects as a mixture of technical experts — sociologists — designers.

For my image, I choose market city for my option, as you can see, the elevator not only going up and down, but also going lift and right. For the stairs also can moving lift and right, also can stretch the length. For the sky window, you can control to be open or closed. I tried to be more interesting and did my best. I wanted to add and cover most of the activities from different areas while Cedric Price’s works are very detailed in scale.For conclusion, I believe that if a person wants to illustrate as many activities as possible in one Image, using the technique ‘Fun Palace’ is the most appropriate option. the architects should consider users’ experience and give them chances to redesign the architecture when they use the architecture.
