On the initial day of our On-the-Job Training (OJT), we underwent an orientation session where we learned about the Young Men’s Christian Association, Inc. (YMCA). The orientation covered various aspects, including the organization’s history, background, core values, as well as its ongoing projects and activities. Following the orientation, we enjoyed a complimentary lunch, consisting of delicious carbonara and garlic bread.

Afterward, we were assigned tasks, and we divided them among my colleagues. Specifically, I was entrusted with the responsibility of creating a layout for a tarpaulin, promoting an upcoming youth training event scheduled to commence on July 16, 2023. This event is set to span half a month and promises to be an exciting opportunity for young individuals.

Nothing much new happen this day, I still worked on my previous task and made revisions for it since there were lots of changes and proposals that were needed to be done for the layout of the tarpaulin.

Another task was assigned to me which was making a layout for their vision and mission to be displayed on their walls since it was not updated to latest version of the vision and mission of the organization.

Similar to the previous day, my main focus today was completing the task of creating a layout for the mission and vision display on the walls. We made several revisions and implemented changes until our supervisor was pleased with the outcome. In the afternoon, we were assigned outdoor errands, and as a pleasant surprise, our supervisor treated us to food from McDonald’s.

We helped each other to update the layout of the old materials of the organization like booklets and manuals. There were many things to change so we used all of the time to make new layouts for the old materials.

On the sixth day, we still continued on updating the old materials because there were also revisions that were suggested by our supervisors. Since we were getting tired and sleepy, during our break, we bought and drank coffee to make our body feel alive so that we can continue to finish our jobs.

I was assigned to edit a video about compilation of pictures and videos of the past activities of YMCA in the last 2 years. The video will be showed in the upcoming event of the organization. I was getting a hard time thinking of a good concept for the video but I still did continue with what i originally planned. We were also happy to see our layout being printed in a large tarpaulin.

On the eighth day, I spent my time working on editing a video that had been assigned to me for the day. In the afternoon, we were requested to run a few outdoor errands as preparation for the upcoming board meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm. Additionally, we were tasked with creating a layout for a recruitment poster for the administration office, as they were seeking to hire a program officer.

During the ninth day, we all wore purple outfits since it was the day Taylor Swift will relase her album “Speak Now, Taylor’s Version”. While working and since there was no one around, we sang our hearts out making us feel motivated and alive to our works. We also brainstormed to make plans and design about the website that we will be making for the organization.

During the tenth day, we started creating the website by coding using html and css. In the afternoon, we had a meeting for the upcoming event on Sunday. We divided our tasks for the opening of the event.

At the start of this day, my supervisor and I went to the governor’s mansion to to check the dormitory which is the place the delegates around the Philippines will be staying in for 2 weeks. In the afternoon, we just continued working on the website.

This marks our 12th day in our OJT days. We continued our tasks since the RYLTI event of YMCA was already near. We need to make double time to finished our tasks. Our tasks this day were making layouts for IDs that will be used by the delegates from around the Philippines during the half month long event. We also made layouts for the pamphlet for the YMCA swimming lessons to be handed out to clients whenever they inquire.

During the 13th day, our OJT Coordinators visited us during our working hours. They interviewed our supervisor about our working environment here in YMCA. Additionally, we continued the tasks that we were not still able to finish during the past days including the website.

This day we were task to do outdoor errands like buying materials for the upcoming RYLTI Event. There was also a small event during this day where we were able to eat free food 😂. We were also assigned to put stickers on the tumblers which will be given to delegates during the RYLTI event.

It was a Saturday but we still went to the office since the opening day of the RYLTI event was the next day so we had to prepare the materials needed for tomorrow. We finalized the ID Layouts, tote bags with the tumblers, manual booklets, etc. We printed the materials that will be used. I was also assigned to design a map for the YMCA Albay Office to be put on the swimming lesson pamphlet.

It was the opening day for the Rizal Youth Leadership Training Institute (RYLTI). Since we were task to registering and assigning the delegates to their respective rooms, we went early to the venue which was the governor’s mansion where the delegates from many parts of the Philippines will be staying for the 2 week event. When we went to the venue, the first thing we had to do was to tie the tarpaulin (which I designed) on the gate of the venue. Delegates started coming which were from Baguio, San Pablo, Pangasinan, Manila, Makati, Davao, Cagayan de Oro etc. Most of the delegates were at the same age as us and others were younger. In the afternoon, the program started, where I was tasked to make an intermission number. I played and sang an original song I wrote titled “Rent” with a ukulele. After that, we ate free food again 😂. That was the summary of our 16th Day.

On the seventeenth day, our assignments were to facilitate and monitor the delegates during their first session with their speaker for the day where they get knowledge about on how to be good youth leaders.

During the afternoon, we wen for outdoor errands to buy materials for the upcoming events in the next days.

This marks our 18th day as interns. I was tasked to make a map to be used by delegates as guide during the upcoming Amazing Race that will be held on Friday. We had a meeting wherein we were assigned to stations as facilitators for the challenges they will be encountering around Legazpi and Daraga. We also documented the session during this day. The design of the website was also continued.

During the nineteenth day, we still continued our tasks on the materials that were needed for the upcoming amazing race. We were also tasked to buy snacks and supplies for the delegates outside. Design and printing of certificates for the speakers were also assigned to us.

During the afternoon, we went to a nearby coffee shop to drink coffee to make our systems alive because we were getting sleepy from all the works we’ve done. I took photos of the ambassador and model of the coffee shop since he was so cute.

During this day, we did outdoor errands to process paper works to allow us to facilitate the upcoming amazing race tomorrow to be held around Daraga and Legazpi. We went first to the municipal mayor’s office, then the PNP. We also went to Yashano to buy the incomplete materials for the RYLTI events. We finalized the materials that will be needed for each station.

The amazing race was held today so we went early because we were one of the facilitators for the event. We were assigned at a station designated in the Daraga Church. The game that we are facilitating was a maze to be done using a pen held by your mouth while blindfolded which one member will be a representative. The only way for them to finish the game is by letting your teammates guide you with directions using animal sounds. Each animal sound represents left, right, up, and down which made it more challenging. The amazing race finished at noon with YMCA swimming pool as the last station.

It was a Monday. During this day, we are tasked to do outdoor errands again to buy necessary supplies that were still not bought yet. Since Xania has a car, we used it to go to the stores we need to buy the supplies from. In the afternoon, we continued on working on designing the website. We also documented the session for the RYLTI Event today.

There were only 2 days left until our OJT days are finished. Our tasks were still the same, we printed the papers and certificates needed and we continued on working and designing the other pages of the website.

This day was very emotional for us since it was our last day as interns at YMCA. We just finished doing all the paper works that were needed and continued working on the website. During our last day, the website was still finished but we had a plan on still cooperating with YMCA to finish the website even though our days as their interns are now finished. We enjoyed our last snack which was a empanada with pizza fillings inside. We took photos with our supervisor so we can have a remembrance. We will surely miss our days working with them.
