Trying to make a difference in the mental health space

As the team continues to try navigating the mental health space and figuring out where we can make a difference, something is becoming very apparent — it’s really hard. Like, really really hard. None of us on the team have any expertise in the health field, much less the mental health field, so, especially given the resources we have, it is incredibly difficult to do something more than just create another app on the app store that is supposedly going to help a user deal with their mental health challenges. The challenge then becomes one of two things. One, create a product that has content backed by research, which is not totally infeasible but would require a lot of ongoing communication with experts we currently have little to no connections with, or two, create a product that does not have said research-backed content, but nevertheless somehow provides value to the user in other ways. Our team has pretty much returned to racking our brains and ideating, and, using all of the information that we have learned from interviews since the start of the semester, hope to converge upon an idea quickly.
